Starlite Speedway
Located between Monroe and Charlotte NC, Starlite Speedway ran from 1960 to 1976. It was a .4 mile dirt track with an irrigation system to try and keep the dust down. In 1985 the track was covered over and a business park built on the site. A trucking company converted the old ticket booth to house fuel pumps and used it to service their trucks. I only remember attending one race there. Jackie Sims did contribute these 2 photos. If you have photos, stories, or memories, please share them with me.

A group heads into the turn. From the models of the cars, I would date this from the early 70s. |

A lone 55 Chevy heads in to the turn. An old single rail guardrail and fence are outside the turn. |

The A-1 driven by Howard Allred at Starlite in the 60s. Read the recollection of his son, Mark, about a fateful night at the track. |
