Metrolina Speedway

Fall 2005

Chris Gordon recently stopped by Metrolina Speedway and took some photos and sent them to me. He was nice enough to share them with others so they can see the current condition of the old track. You may recognize Chris's name. His father and grandfather were instrumental in the history of Metrolina Speedway.

Chris's grandfather promoted races there and Chris's father raced there in the 70s.

The entrance sign is still there, although a bit faded with age.

The infield buildings are still there, it looks like most of the fencing, lights, etc. are gone.

One of the old billboards that lined the backstretch fence.

Some more of the billboards as well as the guardrail and the track.

The concession stand on top of the grandstands looks pretty good.

The old ticket booth at the backgate still has the rules visible.

The pressbox seems to be missing a few windows.

The infield buildings are still intact.
