Ralph Earnhardt

Greenville-Pickens Speedway, NASCAR sanctioned but still dirt. As I remember it, he didn't show up every Saturday night but when he did we knew who would win the race. Only two or three track regulars like Jeff Hawkins, Don Baumgartner or Doug Cox could keep up with him for more than a lap or two. Absolutely phenomenal driving ability on dirt. The master of the power slide. Some times they would let him warm up by himself. What a show he would put on. He would actually do a backward "S" going into the first turn in front of the Grand Stand, throwing the rear of his car to the inside then back to the outside to complete his power slide.
